It would be great if videos pertaining to Selenium RC is also posted
apart from Selenium IDE since most of the problems still prevail in RC
related to Combo-box selection, form submit, etc...

Actually getconfirmation command is used to accept or cancel Confirmation
popups. it should not be used for comparisons.

you can get the text from the alert like this

webDriver.SwitchTo().Alert().Text;

then you can use an assert

assert(webDriver.SwitchTo().Alert().Text, "my text");
