Selenium Remote Control problem
« on: April 03, 2012, 03:30:04 PM »
Hi all
There is a strange problem I have come across.

I am using Windows 7 which has 32 and 64 bit versions of IE8
 installed.

We have some Selenium tests that run ok using the 64 bit version,
where in the App.config file we set the following:
 <add key="Browser" value="*iexplore" />

However I want to use Dynatrace to trace traffic whilst the tests run,
but unfortunately it only supports the 32 bit version of IE8.
I thought this would be simple, so changed my browser ref to this:
 <add key="Browser" value="*iexplore C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet
 Explorer\iexplore.exe" />

When I tried to run the test, the browser opened, but Selenium Remote
Control didnt! I have no idea why this is as it should have nothing to
do with whatever browser I want to test with.

Has anyone got any idea why this would not work as I am baffled.

Thanks

Steve

AFAIK, the 32bit IE gets spawned by default, if the JVM which is spawning
 it is also 32 bit.

Can you try to install/setup a 32bit JDK and then kick start your tests
from within it ? You should see 32bit IE being opened up

Thanks & Regards
