Failed to build WebDriver from source
« on: March 28, 2012, 03:24:03 PM »
Hi,

I'm trying to build WebDriver from source on linux. Unfortunately build
failed because there were some errors during test. I'm attaching log.

What I'm doing wrong? Is it possible to build WebDriver without running
 tests?

Hi Gleb,
From the log, it looks as if you don't have a working network
connection[1]. You can build from source without running the tests by
 executing:

rake htmlunit firefox jobbie

Which will build the htmlunit, firefox and IE drivers respectively.

Regards,

Simon

Long ago there was a thread about localhost and obtaining ip address on my
machine. It was solved by me by hacking FirefoxDriver. I simply changed
localhost to 127.0.0.1. It appears that this is the same problem.

PS Network works fine. I can ping and access any site. But I think it's time
 to go away from openSUSE.

Looks like it's how we figure out the host names for testing. We
assume that "localhost" is a valid hostname and that
 "InetAddress.getLocalHost().getHostName();" returns something
different. It may be worth trying "getCanonicalHostName()" instead[1]

"localhost" is a valid hostname on my machine. I can ping it. This problem
occurs only on openSuse linux distro. I haven't experience any problems on
my home notebook, or under any other linux distro.

I would like to notice that weird problem with FireFox driver, when driver
was unable to connect to firefox binary has been solved in trunk, no hacks
 now. :)
